高雄新興區民生、民權路口19日清晨4點多傳出一聲巨響，一盞巨型路燈遭人撞斷倒地，肇事的自小客停在一旁，警方獲報前來發現王姓駕駛（34歲）酒駕，因不勝酒力撞斷了路燈及行道樹，測定酒測值超標後，立即依公共危險現行上銬逮捕，訊後移送法辦。

據了解，王男18日晚間與友人相約在青年路附近的酒吧飲酒，過程中喝了威士忌等酒類，直到19日凌晨4點多結束時要駕車返回鳳山住處，並不記得事故是如何發生。

警方初步研判王男應是沿民權一路北上到該處路口時，未注意到該路段有分隔島便直撞上去，因撞擊力道過大將路燈燈桿撞倒，隨後停在民生一路人行道上，安全氣囊有爆開，王男僅腿部輕微擦挫傷，無生命危險，王男後續因酒測值超標涉公共危險罪被上銬逮捕。
