中國歷史悠久，「唐代」是強盛時代之一，除了社會安寧穩定，當時業人才輩出，孕育出了無數著名詩人與作品，光在《全唐詩》中，就收錄將近五萬首唐詩，記載近3千位詩人。不過在這麼多唐詩中，被公認「最厲害」的那一首，既不是出自「詩仙」李白，也不是出自「詩聖」杜甫筆下，而是來自一位僅有2首作品傳世的詩人「張若虛」。

張若虛可說是唐朝「最懶」的一位詩人了，一生僅有2首詩作存世，分別是《春江花月夜》和《代答閨夢還》。不過其中的《春江花月夜》，卻是唐詩的代表作之一，被人們評價為「孤篇壓唐宋」，意思是「憑藉這麼一首詩，就已經把唐宋時期所有的詩詞都已經給比下去了。

」就連現代作家聞一多都曾評價《春江花月夜》是「詩中的詩，頂峰中的頂峰」。

究竟這首詩有什麼特別之處，能獲得如此高的評價呢？細看《春江花月夜》，張若虛在開頭2句「春江潮水連海平，海上明月共潮生」首先描繪出美好的景象，讓人不自覺陷入美的享受，但隨後的「江天一色無纖塵，皎皎空中孤月輪」就有了孤獨悲淒之感，這正是人生常態，在快樂之後，難免就會有悲傷難過。

詩人接著提出疑問，「江畔何人初見月？江月何年初照人？」從個人的角度到天地之間，無邊遼闊又無邊荒涼，內心之中滿是問號，隨後的「人生代代無窮已，江月年年只相似」，則讓這首詩瞬間得到昇華，進入「永恆的無常」。到詩的最後「不知乘月幾人歸，落月搖情滿江樹」，則顯示出張若虛的心境，「雖然人生百般變化，但是在這又算得了什麼呢？永恆的無常成為永恆的寧靜，雖不知道人間況味，但我的內心已經是寧靜豁達」。
